01What
Sends XRP from your account to any other XRPL account. The transfer settles in about 4 seconds and cannot be reversed.
02Why you'd use it
This is the most basic thing you can do on the ledger — pay a person, fund a new account, or move money between your own wallets.
03How
- 1Enter the Destination Address (starts with r).
- 2Enter the Amount in XRP — the platform converts it to drops (1 XRP = 1,000,000 drops) for you.
- 3If you are paying an exchange or a shared address, add the Destination Tag they gave you — it tells them which customer the money belongs to.
- 4Optionally attach a Memo (a short public note).
- 5Submit and confirm the result is tesSUCCESS.
Watch out
- Payments are irreversible. There is no fraud department — double-check the address before sending.
- Sending to an address that does not exist yet only works if you send at least the base reserve (1 XRP); that payment creates the account.
- Forgetting a required destination tag at an exchange can strand your funds in their support queue for weeks.
- You cannot spend your reserve: 1 XRP base plus 0.2 XRP per owned object stays locked.
- Memos are public forever — never put private information in one.
For example
You owe a friend 20 XRP for concert tickets. You paste their address, type 20, hit send, and four seconds later they see it in their wallet — total network fee: about 0.00001 XRP.
