Cross-Currency Payment

Pay in one currency while the destination receives another, converted through the DEX. Supports partial payments and explicit paths.

What

Pays someone in one currency while you spend another. The ledger converts along the way using its built-in exchange.

Why you'd use it

Perfect when the recipient wants a specific token but you only hold XRP (or something else). You set a spending cap so a bad exchange rate cannot surprise you.

How

Enter the Destination Address.
Set what the recipient should get: Deliver Currency, Deliver Issuer (unless it is XRP), and Deliver Amount.
Set Max to Spend (XRP) — the most you are willing to pay for the conversion. Get a fair number from Path Find Quote first.
Optionally paste Paths from a path-find quote to lock in a route.
Only tick Allow Partial Payment if you truly accept delivering less than the full amount.
Submit and check the result; the metadata's delivered_amount shows what actually arrived.

Watch out

If no route can deliver the amount within your spending cap, the payment fails with tecPATH_DRY or tecPATH_PARTIAL — your cap protected you.
Partial payments are a classic scam vector: the transaction 'succeeds' while delivering less. Always read delivered_amount, never the Amount field.
Rates move between quoting and sending; leave a little headroom in your cap.
The recipient still needs a trust line for the delivered token.

For example

A charity invoices you for 100 USD tokens, but you hold only XRP. You quote the path (about 41 XRP), set your cap at 43 XRP, and send — the charity receives exactly 100 USD while you never touched an exchange.
