01What
Removes the DID attached to your account and frees the reserve it locked.
02Why you'd use it
If the identity is retired — the account changes purpose, or you rotate to a fresh identity setup — the record should go too.
03How
- 1Warn anything that integrates with your DID — it will stop resolving the moment this lands.
- 2Submit the transaction (no fields needed — it deletes YOUR account's DID).
- 3Confirm tesSUCCESS. The DID object is gone and 0.2 XRP of reserve is released.
Watch out
- Deletion removes the current record, but old versions remain visible in the ledger's transaction history — nothing on a blockchain is ever truly erased.
- Anything that referenced your DID (credentials, integrations) will fail to resolve it afterward — coordinate before deleting.
For example
A pilot project ends and its test account is being wound down. Before deleting the account itself, the team deletes its DID — one less blocking object, one more slice of reserve reclaimed.
